Woven with care. Rooted in history.
Sakiori is a traditional Japanese weaving technique that dates back to the Edo period. It gives new life to old fabrics by tearing them into narrow strips and reweaving them into something beautifully functional—like this handmade pouch.
Originally practiced by farm women during the agricultural off-season, Sakiori reflects the spirit of mottainai—a deep cultural value of not letting anything go to waste. It’s about honoring materials by using them fully and thoughtfully.
Using cotton yarn for the warp and recycled fabric strips for the weft, this pouch is durable, warm, and softens beautifully with use. Each one is entirely unique—handcrafted by Yumiko with care and creativity.
Material: Cotton
Size: W22cm × H13cm
A one-of-a-kind piece that carries the charm of history and the warmth of human hands.
