Meisho Edo hyakkei (One hundred Famous Views of Edo), a major work from the last years of Utagawa Hiroshige (1797-1858).Divided into four sections (spring, summer, autumn, winter), the series of works depicting the true face of Edo as it appears in each of the four seasons shows Hiroshige's deep attachment to the town of Edo, where he was born and raised.

Spring section from the Eight Famous Views of Edo Hiroo Furukawa Hiroo (広尾) is a name derived from a spacious hilly area, which was also known as Hiroo-hara (広尾原). This map is thought to depict the area around the present-day Tengenji-bashi intersection. The mountains at the far left are the hills where Arisugawa Park and other parks are now located, and the Furukawa River (Shibuya River and Akabane River) flows below.
