Meisho Edo hyakkei (One hundred Famous Views of Edo), a major work from the last years of Utagawa Hiroshige (1797-1858).Divided into four sections (spring, summer, autumn, winter), the series of works depicting the true face of Edo as it appears in each of the four seasons shows Hiroshige's deep attachment to the town of Edo, where he was born and raised.

Summer section of the Eight Famous Views of Edo Nihonbashi-dori Ichi-choumeiryakuzu The shop depicted on the right hand side of this map is where Shiroki-ya used to be, and where COREDO Nihonbashi is now located. In front of Shiroki-ya is a farmer selling makuwa-uri, a much-loved delicacy of the common people in the Edo period, and a delivery man from the soba noodle shop Tokyoan. The group with double umbrellas in the centre of the picture is a group from the street performance Kappore.
